As part of the “Palette of the Turkic World” initiative organized by the Organization of Turkic States and the Azerbaijan Artists Union, 14 painters from 10 countries gathered in Antalya to capture the region’s most iconic destinations on canvas.

The artists explored various touristic and culturally significant spots in Antalya, including those known for their geographically indicated products. Over the course of 11 days, they produced 28 artworks reflecting their impressions of the Mediterranean city. The exhibition opened today at the Alanya Municipality Red Tower (Kizilkule) Gallery, welcoming art lovers and visitors.

Building bridges across the Turkic world through art

The Azerbaijan Artists Union and the International Artists Club launched the project to reinforce modern connections between Turkic-speaking nations, drawing on shared cultural heritage. The first stage of the symposium took place in May 2024 in the city of Shabran, Azerbaijan, where artists were invited to paint scenes of local significance. These works were later exhibited in Baku.

Following the Azerbaijan stage, Antalya’s Alanya district was chosen for the second leg of the project. The event was supported by Alanya Municipality and Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation, creating a platform for international cultural exchange.

Farhad Halilov: 'Future events will expand to more countries'

In a letter addressed to Hurriyet, Azerbaijan Artists Union President Farhad Halilov emphasized the scope of the symposium that began in Alanya on 24 April. Artists from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Northern Cyprus, Georgia, and Lithuania took part.

Halilov noted that the exhibition of these artworks in Alanya is only the beginning, with plans to continue the project in other countries in the coming years.
