A 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Sindirgi district of Balikesir province at 6:16 a.m. local time on Thursday, Türkiye’s disaster agency reported.
According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the quake occurred at a depth of 12.31 kilometers (7.65 miles).
Two additional tremors measuring 4.2 struck the same area minutes later at 6:20 a.m. and 6:21 a.m., followed by another 4.0 magnitude quake at 7:45 a.m.
No casualties or damage were immediately reported, but the string of quakes caused alarm among residents.
The region has seen heightened seismic activity in recent months. A 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit Sindirgi on Aug. 10, followed by more than 12,000 aftershocks since, according to AFAD.
