Times Higher Education has released its 2026 World University Rankings, featuring five Turkish universities. The ranking evaluated 2,191 universities across 115 countries and regions in 11 academic disciplines.
The University of Oxford was ranked first globally in computer science, medicine and health in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The university also retained the number one spot overall for the tenth consecutive year, driven by its strong performance in the research environment category.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was ranked first globally in arts and humanities, business and economics and social sciences in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Koc University ranked as the highest-placed Turkish institution in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Middle East Technical University (METU)

Middle East Technical University maintained its position among Türkiye’s leading universities, with particular strength in engineering and scientific research.
Sabanci University

Sabancı University was ranked in the 351–400 band of the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, placing it among Türkiye’s leading research universities. The institution is noted for its interdisciplinary approach and strong performance in research and international collaboration.
Bogazici University
(401–500)
Bogazici University placed in the 401–500 band of the 2026 rankings. The institution also stood out with notable progress in several subject areas, reflecting improvements in research quality and global competitiveness.
Istanbul Technical University (ITU)
(501–600)
Istanbul Technical University was ranked in the 501–600 band, remaining one of Türkiye’s most prominent institutions in engineering and technology.
