Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree awarding the Shohrat Order to Nobel laureate Turkish scientist Prof. Aziz Sancar for his contributions to strengthening scientific and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and the international community.
According to a statement from the Azerbaijani Presidency, Aliyev signed the decree under the relevant provisions of the country's Constitution.
The decree said Sancar was granted the Shohrat Order for his special contributions to strengthening Azerbaijan's international scientific and humanitarian cooperation.
The decision formally recognizes Sancar's role in supporting scientific and humanitarian ties involving Azerbaijan, according to the presidential statement.
