Bryn Walker founder Bryan Walker and his wife, Michelle Min, were found dead at their home in Berkeley, United States, with investigators concluding that Walker killed his wife before taking his own life, according to information provided about the case.
Walker, 64, founded the fashion brand known for its bohemian designs, while Min, 63, had taken over the company's management after her husband handed over the CEO position several years earlier.
The deaths came as the company was reportedly struggling with serious financial problems following major losses from stock and cryptocurrency investments.
The couple was found dead inside their Berkeley residence, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Investigators determined that Walker shot Min in the chest before using the same firearm to take his own life.
The investigation ultimately concluded that Walker killed his wife and then died by suicide.
Several years before the deaths, Walker had stepped down as CEO and handed over management of Bryn Walker to Min, who subsequently took charge of running the fashion business.
The company had recently run into mounting financial difficulties, however, as Walker reportedly used company assets for investments in stocks and cryptocurrencies.
Those investments resulted in substantial losses, worsening the company's financial position and leaving it facing the risk of bankruptcy. As the situation deteriorated, responsibility for trying to steer the business through the crisis reportedly fell to Min as CEO.
Walker was also reported to have experienced psychological problems in the period leading up to the deaths.
