A Brazilian sanitation worker has become an overnight internet sensation in Türkiye after sharing videos of his high-energy dance routines synchronized to Turkish pop and folk music while collecting trash.

Luis Fernando, who works in the city of Araras in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, has won the hearts of millions of social media users by transforming his demanding, repetitive daily routine into an upbeat stage performance.

Fernando gained widespread attention after recording his collection rounds set to songs by prominent Turkish artists, including Mahsun Kirmizigul, Hadise and pop icon Tarkan.

Defying rainy and gloomy Brazilian weather, the sanitation worker manages to maintain his balance on the back of a moving garbage truck while completely losing himself in the music's rhythm.

His most popular videos feature him performing perfectly timed, agile dance moves as he tosses trash bags into the vehicle. The smooth, athletic choreography seamlessly blends the physically difficult nature of his job with pure entertainment.

How he became trending in Türkiye

The phenomenon began trending heavily in Türkiye when Turkish social media users discovered his videos and shared them widely across local platforms. Viewers were captivated by a worker in South America showing such deep familiarity and joy with classic Turkish tracks.

By embracing the music with genuine enthusiasm, Fernando's cheerful performances quickly won the admiration of Turkish digital communities, turning him into a symbol of passion and dedication to one's work.

Since then, he kept posting videos featuring trending Turkish songs and interacting with his new Turkish fans, especially after posting a video with the Turkish flag and wearing a Turkish flag T-shirt.

However, the viral success faced online backlash from some Turkish users who took offense at a video where he displayed a Turkish flag on his work vehicle. The criticism prompted the creator to post a poignant public apology clarifying his intentions.

"I ask for your forgiveness, Turkish people," Fernando wrote under one of his Instagram posts. "I bought the Türkiye t-shirt and flag with so much love and affection to make the video, but there are Turks insulting me just because I filmed it with the flag hanging behind a garbage truck—a job I am very proud of. I was deeply saddened because I made the video with so much love for all of you. Please forgive me; I won’t do it again. I ask for your forgiveness!!!!"

Luis' videos tap into a broader, global social media trend where sanitation workers film their intense daily sprints and synchronized routines to upbeat music.

These videos celebrate the incredible physical stamina required for the job while highlighting the tight-knit camaraderie among the workers as they turn hard labor into synchronized team performances.
