The Madame Tussauds wax museum in Berlin, the capital of Germany, has started displaying what is described as the world's first doner kebab made of beeswax.
The figure was presented to visitors at an event attended by Tarik Kara, founder of the well-known Mustafa's Gemuse Kebap (German for "vegetable kebab") in Berlin's Kreuzberg district.
The wax doner is displayed inside a faithful replica of the first Berlin stand of Mustafa's Gemuse Kebap, which gives visitors a look at how the business began.
In addition to the doner, which was made at its original size, the stand itself was recreated in wax, so the whole scene is part of the exhibit.
Introducing the figure at the event, Kara said he was pleased that one of Berlin's signature foods now has a place in one of the world's leading wax museums.
Kara said he has been selling doner since 2005 and that he gained worldwide fame after a New York Times reporter wrote about his stand.
He added that seeing the doner displayed in a museum made him especially proud, as the dish has long been part of his daily work.
Madame Tussauds says the figure is meant to introduce international visitors to a food that has become one of the key elements of Berlin's street food culture.
Mustafa's Gemuse Kebap, which operates in Kreuzberg, is among Berlin's best-known doner shops, particularly for its vegetable doner.
The cost of the wax doner and the display was reported as €20,000 ($22,370).
