Photographer and former "Survivor" contestant Bennu Gerede was detained as part of an obscenity investigation opened over statements she made during a broadcast.
The Bakirkoy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched the investigation after Gerede's comments drew reactions on social media.
During a YouTube broadcast, Gerede revealed that she keeps a portable vibrator on hand for when the mood strikes during the day.
An investigation launched on the authorities' own initiative, also known as an ex officio investigation, does not require a formal complaint from another person.
Prosecutors are looking into the case under Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code, which covers the offense of obscenity. A detention order was initially issued for Gerede before authorities took her into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
The prosecutor's office also requested an access block for the YouTube channel that published the video containing Gerede's statements.
No further information regarding the investigation was provided.
