In the 2025 Impact Rankings released by Times Higher Education (THE), a leading global organization that evaluates university performance based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Türkiye marked a significant achievement as Abdullah Gul University, Istanbul Technical University, Bahcesehir University, and Middle East Technical University were all ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide.
The 2025 Impact Rankings were unveiled in Istanbul during the Global Sustainable Development Congress, held for the first time in Türkiye through a collaboration between the Council of Higher Education (YOK) and Times Higher Education (THE).
Marking a strong performance for Turkish academia, four universities made it into the global top 100. Abdullah Gul University led the national list at 37th place, followed by Istanbul Technical University at 48th, Bahcesehir University at 59th, and Middle East Technical University at 96th.
This year, the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which measure universities’ success in achieving the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, included 2,526 institutions from 130 countries.
India led the rankings in terms of representation with 147 universities, followed by Pakistan with 126, and both Türkiye and the Philippines with 121 each.
Türkiye showed a strong performance, with 11 universities ranked among the top 300, 18 in the top 600, and 45 making it into the top 1000 worldwide.
