Chinese tourists are flocking to Babadag in Fethiye, a district of Mugla, for paragliding flights during a holiday marking their country's founding anniversary.
Visitors who came to Türkiye for China's Golden Week holiday, observed Oct. 1-7, ride up to 1,965-meter Babadag in the Oludeniz neighborhood to fly. Taking off from runways with pilots, they enjoy a bird's-eye view of Oludeniz.
Zafer Sekerci, a board member of the Oludeniz Paragliding Pilots Cooperative, said the number of Chinese visitors has surged in recent days.
"We can say 1 in every 3 people paragliding from Babadag is Chinese. Our number of Chinese tourists is going up every day," he added.
Sekerci noted that the International Oludeniz Air Games Festival, set to take place in the region, will further boost flight numbers and local tourism.
Jiayi Sahan, a Chinese tourist trying paragliding for the first time, called the area one of the world's major paragliding hubs and described the activity as safe and fun.
Another visitor, Cai Xiaogian, said the views of Fethiye impressed the tourist, who plans a second flight.
