Istanbul is expected to see a brief spell of thunderstorms after midday on Sunday, according to the Turkish State Meteorological Service, while temperatures across much of the country are forecast to remain around seasonal averages over the weekend.
Cengiz Celik, a weather forecasting expert at the directorate, said mostly clear or partly cloudy conditions would prevail across large parts of Türkiye, although some northern regions could see short-lived rainfall.
Celik said Istanbul would remain partly cloudy on Saturday before conditions change on Sunday, when short and locally intense thunderstorms are expected to move in after midday.
Temperatures in the city are forecast to stay at around 32°C-33°C (89.6°F-91.4°F) throughout the weekend.
Beyond Istanbul, short-lived thunderstorms are expected across northern parts of the Marmara and Black Sea regions on Sunday.
Celik also said local and brief showers could develop around the Taurus Mountains during the weekend, while most other parts of Türkiye are expected to remain dry with temperatures close to normal seasonal levels.
