Dense fog affected several districts of Istanbul on Tuesday morning, reducing visibility and making high-rise buildings appear to vanish above the cloud layer.

The fog, which began overnight, continued into the morning hours particularly in higher elevations and around the Bosphorus.

Due to the heavy fog over the Bosphorus, parts of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge were shrouded in mist. Drivers switched on their headlights and moved cautiously as traffic slowed on the bridge.

On the Asian side, the fog was especially thick around the Bosphorus, as well as in the elevated districts of Umraniye, Cekmekoy, and Atasehir, where the upper floors of tall buildings were obscured.

On the European side, dense fog was also observed in Beyoglu, Besiktas, Sariyer and Buyukcekmece.

Reduced visibility caused difficulties for drivers across the city, with many advancing slowly through traffic.
