The 95th Izmir International Fair brought an unexpected spectacle to the streets of Türkiye's third-largest city this week, as an international street performance titled "Legendaires" turned Kulturpark into an open-air stage for thousands of onlookers.
The production, whose name translates to "Legendary Journey," combined towering illuminated fox puppets with a live ensemble of acrobats and dancers moving in synchronized formation through the park's pathways.
The performance launched in front of Kulturpark's Lozan Gate, where the first of the giant fox figures emerged, lit from within and towering over the crowd gathered along the route.
Choreographed to original music paired with custom lighting and sound design, the show unfolded as a moving procession rather than a stationary performance, drawing spectators along its path through the park.
Families and fairgoers lined the route through Kulturpark, many raising their phones to capture the illuminated figures and performers as they passed.
The full performance ran for approximately two hours and was staged in two separate sessions, allowing larger numbers of visitors to attend across the evening.
After winding through Kulturpark, the procession returned to its starting point at Lozan Gate, closing the loop where the spectacle had begun.
The street performance was staged under the organization of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and with the backing of the Ministry of Trade, forming part of the wider program of fair events.
Running under the slogan "The Fair Is at the Heart of the City," the Izmir International Fair also includes concerts, theater productions, stage performances, exhibitions, and activities for children and young people, with the event continuing until Sept. 13.
