Meghan Markle appeared as a guest judge on the 18th season of MasterChef Australia in an episode aired Sunday, July 26.

While filming, she received a surprise video call from her husband, Prince Harry, adding an unplanned moment to the show's judging segment.

The show's 18th season debuted on April 19, with judges Andy Allen, Sofia Levin, Jean-Christophe Novelli, and Poh Ling Yeow judging dishes from a lineup of contestants chasing culinary stardom.

The premiere came just days after Meghan and Prince Harry wrapped up their four-day visit to Australia in mid-April 2026, which took them to Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.

During the episode, Prince Harry called Meghan to check in, and a producer walked into the scene on set, handing the phone to Meghan.

She greeted her husband with a warm "hi, my love," during the call.

''Have I interrupted something important?'' Harry asked as Meghan showed him the studio.

''Well, we are actually in the middle of tasting all the dishes. We have four incredible cooks here,'' she told her husband. ''It’s amazing; they’re so talented. We wish you were here.''

Moments from the show

Amid the call, Meghan praised the high quality of the dishes presented to the panel. She singled out a favorite hot sauce from the lineup while humorously noting that its heat level might prove too intense for him.

Harry, for his part, apologized for interrupting, saying everything was fine on his end.

Before hanging up, Meghan showed him off to the judges, contestants, audience, and crew once more, and the two exchanged a warm goodbye, ending with "I love you."

Contestants on the show were tasked with turning a basic ingredient into a dish "fit for a duchess," though the duchess herself brushed off the formality.

Greeted with a hug by fellow judge Poh Ling Yeow, who asked whether she should address her as "Duchess," Meghan simply replied, "Oh, call me Meghan. Absolutely, yeah."
