Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli rejected claims that Türkiye’s new Climate Law includes provisions for lab-grown meat, calling the reports baseless and misleading.

“Some false claims are being spread, including that ‘lab-grown meat will be produced in Türkiye’ or that ‘animal husbandry will be banned,’” Yumakli said Monday on his Next Sosyal account.

“The Climate Law does not contain a single word about lab-grown meat. Such a regulation does not exist.

Lab-grown meat has never been on the ministry’s agenda.”

Minister: Livestock markets reopening after vaccination campaign

The minister also addressed Türkiye’s ongoing fight against foot-and-mouth disease, noting that over 11 million doses of a vaccine developed against the SAT1 serotype have been distributed.

He said livestock markets will begin reopening gradually this week.

Yumakli warned against disinformation circulating on social media that allegedly discourages vaccination or claims the state aims to cull animals.

He also cautioned against fraudsters attempting to exploit farmers by buying livestock at unfairly low prices.

Support for producers emphasized

The minister underlined that the government has provided 491 billion lira in support of livestock farming over the past 23 years.

He said young farmers, women, and small family businesses remain priority groups in Türkiye’s livestock roadmap.

“Farmers should obtain accurate information only from Agriculture and Forestry Directorates in every province and district of Türkiye,” Yumakli said.

“Do not rely on rumors or social media posts. If you encounter fraud attempts, report them immediately to judicial authorities.”

Yumakli stressed that his ministry will continue to protect farmers’ rights and public confidence “both in the field and in court.”
