Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy highlighted the reach of citizens and people of Turkish origin living outside Türkiye, speaking at the 15th-anniversary gala of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities.

He said there is “a remarkable Turkish diaspora of nearly 7 million spread across the world, especially in European countries,” adding that ongoing initiatives aim to help this community achieve the influence it should have.

Diaspora here refers to people of Turkish origin residing outside Türkiye. YTB is the public institution responsible for engagement with Turks abroad and related communities.

Work that spans communities, continents

Ersoy noted that YTB’s activities are not limited to Turks living overseas. Within a broad mandate, the institution runs programs for related communities as well as international students, with the stated goal of strengthening their bonds with Türkiye across many geographies and cultures.

He underlined that these efforts continue without interruption.

Vision framed by culture, memory

Referring to the government’s “Century of Türkiye” vision, Ersoy tied the work to cultural values and historical continuity.

He said this path rests on the nation’s culture, heritage, and the impressions left in hearts over time.

He described YTB as a dedicated actor that both reaps the harvest of past efforts and sows new seeds for the future in a world where divisions often deepen.

Looking ahead, Ersoy expressed full confidence in the people who will lead and succeed the current leadership, stating, “I wholeheartedly believe we will leave many more 15 years behind us with new and great success stories.”
