Interest in Kurtdere Plateau, a highland plateau in the Macka district of Trabzon on Türkiye's Black Sea coast, has grown since Trabzonspor forward Mohamed Salah visited the site.
The Egyptian player's photograph at the location drew wide attention on social media, turning the plateau into a stop for football fans and nature visitors.
The rock where Salah sat for the photograph became a focal point online after the image spread. Visitors to the area have since sought out the same spot to take similar photographs. The increased interest has at times caused heavier vehicle traffic in the plateau.
Salah visited Kurtdere Plateau after touring Sumela Monastery, another of the region's landmarks, and took in the area's natural scenery during the stop.
Content creators from XTG Spor later installed a sign at the location reading "Salah Yaylasi" (Salah Plateau), fixing it into the ground with a sledgehammer. Footage of the installation also circulated on social media.
Salah joined Trabzonspor in August 2026 on a two-year contract after leaving Liverpool, where he had played since 2017.
The transfer made him one of the highest-profile signings in the club's history and drew significant international attention to Trabzonspor and the wider Trabzon region.
