Hot temperatures and high humidity affecting Istanbul are set to give way to heavy rain.
According to the latest forecasts from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected tomorrow, particularly in Istanbul, as well as the eastern Marmara region and the Black Sea coast.
Istanbul, experiencing the hottest days of the summer, continues to be challenged by high temperatures and humidity. Humidity levels rising above 95% during nighttime hours in particular are causing the heat to feel more intense.
However, the oppressive weather will lose its effect for a short period. According to official forecasts, heavy rain is expected tomorrow in Istanbul as well as the northern Marmara region and coastal areas of the Black Sea.
While the temperature in Istanbul is expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius (91 degrees Fahrenheit) today, thunderstorms with heavy rain will affect the city tomorrow.
The rainfall is also expected to be seen in Thrace, the eastern Marmara region and coastal areas of the Black Sea, in addition to Istanbul.
Temperatures are expected to rise again after the heavy rain. Istanbul is forecast to start the new week with a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit).
According to the latest official assessments, local showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected in the eastern Marmara region, the Toros (Taurus) mountain area of the Mediterranean region, the western and eastern Black Sea regions, the central Black Sea coast, the northeast of the Eastern Anatolia region and the northern parts of Kirklareli province, while other areas will see partly cloudy to clear skies.
Temperatures will be above seasonal norms in the southern regions and around seasonal norms elsewhere.
Winds will generally blow from the north and from the south and east in the southern and eastern regions, light to occasionally moderate and strong (40-60 km/h, or 25-37 mph) along the western Marmara and northern Aegean coasts.
