Snowfall brings winter feel back to Istanbul

Winter conditions have made themselves felt across much of Türkiye, with Istanbul experiencing a noticeable drop in temperatures as cold air keeps temperatures below seasonal averages. 

Snowfall in the city, especially during the early morning hours, has given many neighborhoods a wintry appearance.

As the snow continued, white-covered streets and rooftops reshaped familiar neighborhoods. While daily routines slowed in some areas.

While commuters heading to work created busy scenes at tram, metro, bus and metrobus stops. 

Despite the wintry conditions, residents carried on with their morning routines as the city adjusted to another snowy day.

According to meteorologists, snowfall in Istanbul was expected to continue through the middle of the day before gradually easing toward the evening. 

Northern districts saw heavier snow due to winds coming from the Black Sea, while coastal areas experienced lighter conditions.

Elsewhere in the country, cold weather affected large regions, with snow falling across the Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia and parts of Central Anatolia. 

Frost and icy conditions were observed in inland and eastern areas, particularly during the night and early morning.
