Turkish actress Duygu Sarisin is set to marry Professor Mete Atature, the head of the University of Cambridge's Department of Physics, after accepting his marriage proposal during the couple's holiday in Sicily.
Sarisin, who most recently appeared in the television series "Ben Leman," reportedly shared the news with people close to her after saying "yes" to Atature's proposal.
According to a report by Akif Yaman, Atature made the romantic proposal while the couple was vacationing in Sicily. Following their engagement, the pair have started preparing for their marriage.
The development has brought Sarisin's private life back into the public eye. The actor had previously drawn media attention over her relationship with Turkish actor Cagatay Ulusoy.
Her relationship with Atature, however, brings together two figures from different professional fields, with Sarisin working in television and Atature holding a senior academic position at one of the world's best-known universities.
Professor Mete Atature is a physicist and academic who has headed the University of Cambridge's Department of Physics, based at the Cavendish Laboratory, since October 2023.
He is known for his scientific work in quantum optics, quantum measurement and information technologies.
