Exports exceeding $10M

Ismail Yilmaz, chairman of the board of the Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters Association, said Valentine’s Day is important for the sector.

“Our flower shipments for Feb. 14 Valentine’s Day are continuing. We will have exports exceeding $10 million,” Yilmaz told an Anadolu Agency correspondent.

Yilmaz said orders are up this year compared with last year and that most shipments during this period go to European countries.

“We are sending products to almost all of Europe. We will ship to more than 30 countries," he said.

"It’s not only Europe. We also have shipments to other countries,” he added.

Yilmaz confirmed that shipments are expected to continue until Feb. 7-8 and that if there is demand after Feb. 8, shipments will be sent via air cargo.
