Türkiye’s education services exports have surged 15-fold since 2012, reaching $2.87 billion last year, the trade ministry said.
In a written statement, the ministry said comprehensive efforts are underway to boost education exports and encourage international student mobility.
“This strong growth has been made possible not only through our ministry’s support but also via international promotion and marketing activities conducted by universities and sector stakeholders,” the statement read.
The ministry noted that support for the sector doubled compared to the previous year, reaching ₺162.6 million ($3,95 million) in 2024, while aid provided up to August 2025 stood at ₺66.2 million.
Supported activities include overseas advertising, international marketing, rental and operational costs for international units, and promotional delegation programs.
Türkiye’s international student population has increased nearly 11-fold since 2012, reaching 337,119 in the 2024-2025 academic year.
The country now hosts students from 180 nations and holds approximately 3.5% of global international student mobility, according to the ministry.
The number of universities in Türkiye has risen from 76 in 2002 to 208 in 2025, making it the 25th country globally in terms of total higher education institutions.
The ministry also highlighted the “Study in Türkiye” brand, under which 20 national participation fairs were organized this year, and noted that seven educational brands in the sector have received Turquality support, with plans to expand this number.
“Our goal is to strengthen Türkiye’s brand value in education, increase its appeal to international students, and ensure sustainable growth in education exports,” the statement said.
