Turkish-manufactured Ejder Yalcin 4x4 tactical wheeled armored vehicles demonstrated high-field performance during Hungary's largest military exercise, with plans to quintuple the fleet through local production beginning next year.
More than 100 Ejder Yalcin vehicles, operating under the name Gidran in the Hungarian Armed Forces, participated in Adaptive Hussars 2025, the country's most extensive military exercise in recent history.
The vehicles showcased rapid deployment and force protection capabilities as tangible evidence of Hungary's modernization efforts.
Local production through a partnership between Nurol Makina and Raba will begin next year, with plans to manufacture over 400 vehicles in Hungary.
The Adaptive Hussars 2025 exercise, conducted under the NATO framework and hosted by the Hungarian Armed Forces, brought together 22,000 personnel, including reserves. Turkish, Croatian, Italian and other allied soldiers participated alongside Hungarian forces.
The Gidran 4x4 armored vehicles, which first entered the Hungarian military inventory in 2020, played an active role in the exercise designed to test Hungary's defense capacity at the tactical level, enhance interoperability among participating units and integrate all army components.
The vehicles proved particularly effective during mobility-intensive phases of the exercise, including transit, logistics support and reconnaissance missions.
They ensured high-level personnel protection and mission effectiveness even in challenging terrain conditions.
Turkish forces participated with a mechanized infantry company. The collaboration between Turkish soldiers and Hungarian and other allied forces using Nurol Makina's high-protection, high-mobility platforms reinforced compliance with NATO standards.
Nurol Makina customized the Gidran vehicle design with participation from Hungarian Army experts and officials from firms under the Ministry of Defense. The vehicles were initially manufactured in Türkiye, with the fleet now exceeding 100 units.
The company established Nurol Makina Hungary and subsequently launched a joint venture with Raba Automotive. Intensive discussions with firms are underway to establish the supply chain for Hungarian production, with local manufacturing work targeted to begin next year.
The planned production of over 400 vehicles through the Nurol Makina-Raba partnership will increase Hungary's Gidran 4x4 fleet fivefold.
Nurol Makina Hungary teams, working with Hungarian product support partners, provided intensive maintenance, repair and logistics support during the Adaptive Hussars 2025 exercise.
