Rize, a province on Türkiye’s northeastern Black Sea coast, opens the 6th GastroRize Days beside its Tea Bazaar (Cay Carsisi). Under the motto “Living Heritage on the Table” (Sofrada Yasayan Miras), the festival brings together the cuisine of 12 districts in one place.

Hosted by Rize Municipality, the event brings together more than 70 stands from 12 districts. Each district sets out its own dishes and products, so a single walk through the site covers the whole province.

Visitors taste local dishes at the stands. Abdulmenap Bingol, who toured the site, said he tried Rize’s kavurma, a fried meat dish, and hamsili pilav, rice cooked with anchovies, and said he was satisfied with the organization.

Rize Deputy Mayor Abdulkadir Oksuz says the municipality has spent three years bringing to light recipes that stayed hidden in the districts. The festival gives those recipes a public platform.

More than 150 women entrepreneurs take part with handmade items and kitchen products. Local tradespeople and business owners share the grounds, and the site mixes food stands with hand-crafted goods.

Tea appears at the event in small-batch form. Oksuz said businesses producing handmade boutique tea have stands, alongside other local producers and tradespeople from across the city.

Beyond food, regional crafts draw visitor interest. Rize cloth (Rize bezi), copper work, baskets and Hemsin socks stand beside the dishes, giving visitors a view of local handmade traditions alongside the cooking.
