Two young falcons were sold for a combined 374,000 Saudi riyals (approximately $100,000) during the fourth night of Saudi Arabia's 2026 National Falcon Auction, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Organized by the National Falcon Center, the auction attracted strong participation from falcon hunters and enthusiasts and is scheduled to run through Nov. 30.
The evening opened with the sale of a young falcon captured in Saudi Arabia's Jazan region by a group of 12 hunters. Bidding started at 100,000 riyals before the bird eventually sold for 193,000 riyals (approximately $51,500).
A second young falcon, captured in the Uwayqilah area by Sanitan al-Shammari and Yusuf al-Harbi, was offered toward the end of the evening. Starting at 120,000 riyals, the bidding climbed to 181,000 riyals (approximately $48,300).
Together, the two sales brought in nearly $100,000 during a single auction session.
Organizers said the auction accepts only young migratory falcons captured within Saudi Arabia's borders, with other species excluded as part of efforts to support sustainability and protect falcon populations.
Auction sessions featuring locally captured falcons are broadcast live on television and social media, allowing hunters and enthusiasts to follow the bidding.
Throughout the hunting season, the National Falcon Center also provides logistical assistance to participants, including welcoming falcon owners in different regions and covering accommodation and transportation expenses.
