The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed the first recorded recovery of a patient infected with Ebola in the current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

WHO official Anais Legand stated on Friday that a patient had been discharged from the hospital on May 27 after recovering from the Ebola virus disease.

"The DRC has said that on May 27, a patient recovered and left the hospital and has been discharged into the community,” Legand told reporters, adding that this was “the first” reported recovery in the current outbreak.
