A wildfire broke out on Wednesday in an open field in the Celaliye neighborhood of Buyukcekmece, spreading rapidly due to strong winds, local authorities said.
The blaze started for unknown reasons in the area near Sile Street. Flames quickly engulfed a large stretch of dry grassland, prompting an emergency response.
Firefighters, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene following emergency calls. Efforts to contain the fire were still ongoing as of Wednesday afternoon, according to Istanbul’s fire department.
No casualties or structural damage have been reported so far.
