Over 110,000 unlicensed weapons seized in Türkiye in 2025

Turkish Interior Ministry operations conducted throughout 2025 resulted in the seizure of 110,104 unlicensed weapons and enforcement actions against 119,175 individuals for unlicensed weapons possession, carrying and trafficking, according to security sources.

Operations targeting unlicensed weapons and weapons smuggling were conducted across 81 provinces during the year, according to information obtained by state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) from security sources.

Weapons breakdown by type

The 110,104 seized unlicensed weapons comprised four primary categories, according to Interior Ministry data:

Pistols: 50,219 weapons seized, representing the largest category of confiscated arms.

Hunting rifles: 35,724 weapons seized, comprising the second-largest category.

Non-firing pistols: 22,669 weapons seized, representing replica or non-functional weapons.

Long-barreled weapons: 1,492 weapons seized, the smallest category of confiscated arms.

According to security sources, work on preventing illegal manufacturing and smuggling of weapons and ammunition and fighting these crimes is being pursued with determination.

"Weapons and ammunition smuggling combat is being conducted not only to prevent illegal weapons trafficking but also to prevent all types of crimes that could be committed with these weapons," according to the source statement.
