26 suspects arrested in joint drug operations in Turkish provinces and Norway's Oslo

A total of 26 suspects have been detained in coordinated drug operations carried out in six provinces across Türkiye and the Norwegian capital, Oslo, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced.

The coordinated operations, centered in Istanbul, extended to Nigde, Mersin, Adana, Konya, Mugla, and the Norwegian capital Oslo, targeting drug trafficking networks.

Yerlikaya announced through his social media account that authorities seized 365 kilograms of narcotics during the domestic operations.

"In our work conducted domestically following the operations, we seized 365 kilograms of narcotics," Yerlikaya stated, adding that 26 suspects believed to be drug dealers were apprehended. Of the 26 suspects arrested, 17 were remanded in custody while seven were placed under judicial control, according to the minister's statement.

The operation resulted in significant seizures across multiple categories of illegal substances.

Detailed seizure breakdown

Yerlikaya provided specific details about the confiscated materials, stating: "In our work conducted based on information obtained after the joint operations targeting drug trafficking in Istanbul-centered Nigde, Mersin, Adana, Konya, and Mugla, as well as Oslo, Norway, we seized 257 kilograms of skunk, 108 kilograms of cocaine, various amounts of methamphetamine, and 2 precision scales."

The minister congratulated the Istanbul Governor, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office that coordinated the operation, the Istanbul Provincial Police Chief, and the police officers involved.

Yerlikaya later emphasized the broader significance of anti-drug efforts in his statement.

"The fight against drugs, which is a global disaster, is not just a security issue, but also an issue of our tomorrow. We are present on every street, every avenue, every corner. We do not give drug dealers a moment's rest. We do not and will not allow them to darken our children's future," he said.
