Türkiye arrests 2,311 suspects in drug operations across 75 provinces in 3 weeks

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 2,311 suspects were arrested and more than 1 ton of narcotics, along with 5.3 million drug pills, were seized in operations conducted across 75 provinces over the past three weeks.

Minister Yerlikaya shared details of the operations on his social media account, stating that the raids were organized by provincial police departments under the coordination of the chief public prosecutors' offices and the General Directorate of Security's Narcotics Crime Prevention Department.

The operations involved 2,335 teams with 8,340 personnel, 37 aircraft, and 53 narcotics detection dogs across 75 provinces throughout Türkiye.

Significant drug seizures and arrests

The three-week operation resulted in the seizure of 1 ton and 24 kilograms of narcotics along with 5 million 375 thousand drug pills. A total of 2,311 suspects were arrested during the coordinated raids.

Minister condemns drug trade

Yerlikaya congratulated the governors, the chief public prosecutors' offices that coordinated the operations, and the provincial police chiefs and officers who carried out the raids.

"Drugs are humanity's greatest enemy. We will continue to fight against the poison dealers who dare to engage in this trade for the sake of our country and humanity," Yerlikaya stated.

The Interior Minister emphasized the government's commitment to continuing the fight against drug trafficking and those involved in the narcotics trade.
