As part of the investigation into the alleged “Imamoglu criminal organization for financial gain,” 57 suspects were detained on Monday over allegations of irregularities in tenders conducted by Bogazici Tesis Yonetim Hizmetleri, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB).

The investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into the alleged organization linked to former Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, who was suspended from office following his arrest over corruption allegations in March 2025, is ongoing.

Findings by the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch reveal that the suspects allegedly rigged tenders organized by Bogazici Tesis Yonetim Hizmetleri and systematically violated procurement regulations.

Authorities assessed that the crime of “bid rigging” was committed as part of organized activities, and launched an operation.

Following the investigation, police carried out simultaneous raids at addresses in Istanbul, Adana, Bursa, Diyarbakir, Konya and Yalova, detaining 57 suspects.

The suspects were taken to police headquarters for processing.

Probe focuses on alleged procurement irregularities

Investigators allege that procurement processes at the municipal subsidiary were manipulated through coordinated actions carried out within the framework of the alleged organization.

Bogazici Tesis Yonetim Hizmetleri is among the subsidiaries operating under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

The operation marks the latest phase of the broader corruption investigation targeting individuals allegedly linked to Imamoglu.

Imamoglu has been imprisoned for more than a year and faces multiple corruption-related charges tied to alleged municipal tender irregularities and financial misconduct.

He is currently on trial alongside 413 co-defendants. If convicted on all charges, he faces a cumulative prison sentence of up to 2,430 years.

The investigations related to the case remain ongoing.
