Türkiye's Directorate of Communications has pushed back against circulating social media claims that American B-1B Lancer strategic bombers are actively conducting flights in and out of Incirlik Air Base, labeling the assertions a deliberate disinformation campaign.
The Directorate's Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) said in a statement posted to its official social media account that images and videos accompanying the claims are outdated and belong to previously scheduled routine training exercises, with no connection to ongoing regional conflicts.
The Directorate said the material being circulated was recorded in prior years and is now being presented as if it reflects current operations. The center characterized this as "a deliberate perception operation" aimed at damaging Türkiye's peace-oriented position in the region and portraying the country as a party to active conflicts.
The agency urged the public not to give credence to claims from unverified sources outside official authorities, warning of content designed for "provocative and manipulative" purposes.
Incirlik Air Base, located near Adana in southern Türkiye, has long served as a critical NATO installation and has periodically been at the center of geopolitical tensions. The base has hosted U.S. military assets under bilateral defense arrangements, making it a recurring subject of public speculation during periods of regional instability.
The B-1B Lancer, a long-range supersonic bomber operated by the U.S. Air Force, has been deployed across various NATO exercises in Europe. Its association with high-intensity operations makes any claimed sighting at a regional base particularly sensitive.
