The investigation into alleged misappropriation of ₺759 million ($18,30 million) by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality between 2021 and 2024 continues, with prosecutors now planning to question some performing artists.

The probe initially identified ₺154 million in potential public losses, covering 32 concerts during the period.

Authorities are reviewing 47 files related to the events.

Artists allegedly used in scheme

Financial reports suggest that several companies and performing artists were involved in the alleged misuse of funds.

High payments were made to artists, and subsequent transfers reportedly funneled money to companies linked to municipal officials.

Due to inconsistencies in reported payments, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered that some of the artists who performed at the concerts be questioned.

Artists respond to allegations

Following public backlash over excessive payments, some artists spoke out, claiming they were unaware of the discrepancies.

For instance, Hadise stated she received ₺20 million instead of ₺94 million; Gulsen said she was paid ₺8 million rather than ₺78 million; and Kenan Dogulu reported earning ₺7 million instead of ₺13.6 million.

The band Mor ve Otesi said the alleged ₺71 million in their name was inaccurate and that they did not know where the remaining funds went.

As part of the ongoing probe, 14 individuals—including municipal officials and event company owners—have been detained in connection with the ₺154 million in alleged public losses.
