Ankara woodland fire extinguished after 8 hours

A fire that broke out in a wooded area in Ankara’s Mamak district was extinguished after crews worked for more than 8 hours. Firefighters rushed to the scene immediately after residents reported the blaze on Sunday evening.

The fire broke out in a wooded area on Huseyingazi Turbe Road in Basak Mahallesi for reasons that have not yet been determined. Fire crews were dispatched to the area upon receiving the report.

Mansur Yavas, Mayor of Ankara, said on his social media account, “Our fire department, forestry crews, and the relevant departments of our municipality are on the ground with 47 vehicles and 148 personnel. Twenty water tankers and four pieces of heavy equipment belonging to our municipality are also assisting with firefighting efforts.”
