Aselsan has opened a new representative office in Egypt, marking the Turkish defense company’s first physical presence in the country, according to Anadolu Agency (AA).
Aselsan General Manager Ahmet Akyol announced the launch of a new representative office in Egypt named “Aselsan Egypt,” establishing the Turkish defense giant’s first physical presence in the country.
Speaking to AA during his visit to Cairo for the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2025), Aselsan General Manager Ahmet Akyol announced the launch of a new representative office in Egypt.
He also said the new office will enable Egypt’s armed forces and local end-users to receive Aselsan services directly, marking a notable milestone in bilateral defense ties.
Akyol described the move as a strategic step that strengthens cooperation between Ankara and Cairo. “Türkiye’s largest defense company now has an active, on-the-ground presence in Egypt,” he said, highlighting the significance of the opening for both countries’ defense sectors.
Akyol emphasized the importance of EDEX 2025, one of the largest defense exhibitions in the Middle East and Africa, noting that the participation of over 80 Turkish companies reflects the current momentum in Türkiye–Egypt relations. He added that the fair serves as a critical venue for developing joint projects with regional partners.
As part of ongoing collaboration efforts, Akyol announced that a preliminary agreement has been signed between three companies, developed through work with local partners. These partnerships, he said, are expected to evolve into joint production and joint operations in the coming period.
At EDEX 2025, Aselsan drew strong attention from Middle Eastern and African delegations. The company showcased a wide portfolio, ranging from air defense systems and guidance kits to electronic warfare technologies, tank modernization solutions and communication systems.
Akyol highlighted the particular interest in the integrated air defense system “CELIKKUBBE,” explaining that it merges electronic warfare, radar and multiple other components into a unified network.
He also noted that Aselsan’s family of guidance kits drew significant focus, especially the KGK-84, which can deliver a one-ton bomb to a range of 100 kilometers (62.13 miles).
ASELSAN additionally exhibited guidance kits for UAVs and aircraft, radar and EW systems, maritime sensors and tank modernization technologies, further demonstrating the breadth of its defense capabilities.
Akyol said relations between Türkiye and Egypt are now at their warmest and highest level in recent years, with defense cooperation expanding accordingly.
“We are pleased with the interest coming from Egypt and from countries across the region,” he stated. “We are witnessing important meetings and signing several agreements.”
According to Akyol, the establishment of Aselsan Egypt represents a key step toward deeper defense industry collaboration, signaling Aselsan’s long-term commitment to the Egyptian market.
