Italian aviation firm Piaggio Aerospace, recently acquired by Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar, has received its first aircraft order from Türkiye, the company announced Wednesday.

“Piaggio Aerospace has secured a new order for two P.180 Avanti EVO aircraft from a Turkish company, which will operate them in a shuttle and ambulance configuration,” the company said in a statement.

The aircraft will be equipped for both executive transport and air ambulance missions, underscoring rising demand for multi-role platforms in regional aviation, Piaggio said.

'Reinforcing strong international positioning of Avanti EVO'

“This order reinforces the strong international positioning of the Avanti EVO,” said Piaggio Aerospace CEO Giovanni Tomassini. “We are building a new future for Piaggio Aerospace thanks to the full support of our new owner, Baykar.”

Baykar Technologies — the producer of Bayraktar TB2, Akinci, and Kizilelma drones — acquired Piaggio Aerospace in December, finalizing the deal in June.

In addition to Piaggio, Baykar signed cooperation agreements with Leonardo, one of Europe’s largest aerospace and defense firms. The two companies established a joint venture named LBA Systems to develop “next-generation unmanned systems.”
