Turkish drone giant Baykar has unveiled Mizrak (Spear), a new intelligent and autonomous long-range loitering munition. This system features an operational range exceeding 1,000 kilometers and over seven hours of endurance. It is equipped with a 40-kilogram dual-warhead heavy-strike configuration and utilizes AI-powered, GPS-independent autonomous navigation.
The platform is set to make its public debut at the SAHA 2026 Defense, Aviation and Space Industry Fair, scheduled to be held in Istanbul on May 5-9, having completed live-fire tests before the announcement.
Mizrak—named after the Turkish word for spear, reflecting its aerodynamic profile and high lethality—has a maximum takeoff weight of 200kg, a four-meter wingspan, a service ceiling of 10,000 feet, and a maximum speed of approximately 185 km per hour.
It carries a 40 kg payload capacity and can operate from conventional runways or improvised terrain through its rocket-assisted takeoff (RATO) system.
Mizrak is offered in two primary configurations.
The heavy-strike variant carries twin 40kg warheads for maximum lethality.
The precision variant carries a single 20kg warhead fitted with a radio frequency seeker for precise target detection. Both configurations carry interchangeable electro-optical and infrared cameras for reconnaissance and surveillance missions.
The system is equipped with an AI-powered autopilot and sensor fusion, enabling fully autonomous operation in complex environments. Visual positioning and built-in optical guidance allow Mizrak to locate and strike targets with high precision even in GPS-denied or heavily jammed environments.
Anti-jamming systems provide additional resilience against electronic warfare.
Mizrak integrates seamlessly with Baykar's TB2, TB3 and Akinci platforms through Baykar's digital data and video links, enabling coordinated multi-asset operations.
Its line-of-sight (LOS) communications range exceeds 80km, with optional satellite communications extending the operational network beyond visual range (BVR).
Mizrak is the third new Baykar loitering munition unveiled in a period of less than two months, following the K2 Kamikaze (2,000km range) and Sivrisinek (1,000km range, formerly YIHA-III).
The company confirmed that Mizrak had successfully completed live warhead firing tests before the announcement.
Its SAHA 2026 debut marks the first public showing of all three platforms simultaneously.
