The British Army displayed the NMS 4x4 armored vehicle at DSEI UK 2025, signaling its planned entry into the military's armored combat vehicle fleet under the designation NOMAD 4x4.

The vehicle, manufactured by NMS U.K., the British subsidiary of Turkish defense company Nurol Makina, was exhibited alongside the army's current in-service armored fighting vehicles at one of the world's leading defense exhibitions.

NMS U.K. will produce the vehicles at a 32,000-square-meter facility located at Tachbrook Park.

The company specializes in localized production of Nurol Makina vehicles, including the NOMAD (NMS 4x4), DRAGON (Ejder Yalcin 4x4), and LURCHER (NMS-L 4x4).

The NOMAD displayed at DSEI featured the Unirobotics TRAKON 30 Remote Controlled Weapon Station armed with the VENOM LR 30x113 mm revolver cannon.

The VENOM LR was developed by U.K.-based AEI Systems, which the Turkish company SYS acquired in 2023.

NOMAD 4x4 armored vehicle variants and capabilities

The NMS platform is available in baseline, NMS-L and EWB variants. The NMS-L variant, unveiled at IDEF 2023, features a flatbed for mounting logistical payloads or weaponry, such as loitering munitions.

Nurol Makina also unveiled the eNMS-L, an all-electric demonstrator with an option for range-extending fuel cells at the flatbed, during IDEF 2025.

The NOMAD 4x4 combines mobility, protection and modular firepower.

Its integration with the TRAKON 30 system provides greater lethality than most vehicles in its weight class, which typically carry only heavy machine guns or grenade launchers.

The TRAKON 30 fills the gap between heavy machine guns and the larger 30x173 mm autocannons typically reserved for infantry fighting vehicles.

Built around the VENOM LR revolver cannon, it incorporates recoil mitigation technology that reduces stress on the host platform.

The system accommodates both armor-piercing and high-explosive ammunition and includes advanced electro-optical systems.

This configuration enables precision engagement of armored targets, vehicles and fortified positions while maintaining mobility across diverse terrains.

Industrial background

The Nomad benefits from this experience, offering advanced protection with scalable and composite armor while maximizing mobility and utility.
