Fenerbahce defender Milan Skriniar reported that cash was stolen from his villa in Beykoz, an upper-income district on Istanbul's Asian side, while a moving company was handling the transport of his belongings. Police later took five people to the station for statements as the investigation widened.
According to the information provided, Skriniar told police that he had arranged a moving company for the relocation.
Workers arrived at around 11:00 a.m. and continued loading items until about 4:30 p.m. After the process ended, he came back to the house and found that the money kept inside a dresser on the second floor was missing.
The reported missing cash included $26,000, €4,400 and ₺1,000.
Following the complaint, police launched an inquiry and found that the money had allegedly been taken from a bedside cabinet, described in the source as a komodin, a small storage unit usually placed next to a bed.
As part of the investigation, five people linked to the moving process were taken to police headquarters to give statements.
They were identified as A.E., E.O.Y., C.U, I.U. and B.A. The text said three of them were assigned by the logistics company handling the move.
At the same time, officers began reviewing security camera footage from the residential compound, a gated housing site common in Türkiye. Investigators were said to be examining vehicles and individuals who entered the site in recent days while also looking into whether the alleged theft may have involved someone from inside the process.
Police are still trying to establish exactly when the theft took place and who may have carried it out. The case remains under a multi-layered investigation following Skriniar's complaint, and efforts to identify any suspect or suspects are ongoing.
Anadolu Agency added that investigators are continuing to trace the missing money while studying camera records and witness statements.
