An individual identified on social media as an Egyptian “police assistant” has come under public scrutiny after videos allegedly showing him harassing women and filming inappropriate behavior in Istanbul circulated widely online, prompting strong reactions from both Turkish users and members of the Egyptian community in the city.

Videos spread rapidly, triggering public outrage

Footage shared through the Instagram account “arsalalybdh” quickly gained traction, with viewers claiming the individual approached women in a disturbing manner and recorded the incidents. Some clips also appeared to show him filming inside a mosque, where he allegedly disrupted worshippers and took videos during prayer.

In the videos, the person is seen approaching women in public spaces and attempting physical contact, while recording and later publishing the interactions.

As the content spread across platforms, it drew widespread criticism, with users expressing concern over both the alleged harassment and the act of recording and publishing such behavior online.

Egyptian community in Istanbul condemns actions

The incident also prompted a strong response from the Egyptian community living in Istanbul.

Statements shared by groups and platforms representing Egyptians emphasized that such conduct is unacceptable and does not reflect the broader community.

Claims of possible provocation remain unverified

Alongside the backlash, some discussions on social media suggested the possibility that the incident could be a provocation. However, there has been no official confirmation supporting these claims.

Authorities have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the case, and the incident continues to be debated online as calls grow for clarification and possible action.
