Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday reaffirmed Ankara’s full support for the sovereignty and security of the United Arab Emirates during a phone call with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan amid rising regional tensions.
According to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, the two leaders discussed bilateral ties as well as regional and global developments during the call.
Erdogan also conveyed his wishes for a swift recovery from damage caused by the ongoing regional conflict, the directorate said in a statement posted on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
During the conversation, Erdogan said Türkiye places importance on expanding cooperation with the UAE in several areas, particularly trade, energy and security.
Referring to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, Erdogan described developments in the region as regrettable and said Ankara continues diplomatic contacts with relevant countries to help facilitate a negotiated solution between Washington and Tehran.
He also stressed the need for greater dialogue and cooperation to address regional security challenges, according to the statement.
