Turkish defense manufacturer FNSS is in ongoing negotiations with Spain for the supply of its next-generation PARS 6x6 armored vehicle configuration, with the company confirming active discussions for a potential procurement deal.
The new PARS 6x6 configuration, first unveiled at Spain's FEINDEF defense exhibition in May, is being offered to the Spanish Army through a consortium that includes FNSS, two Spanish firms and Belgian company John Cockerill.
The proposed vehicle would feature the Cockerill 3030 weapon turret system for fire support and reconnaissance mission profiles.
"At FNSS we had the opportunity to learn about the latest advances in their wheeled/tracked armored vehicles that incorporate all the extensive Turkish operational experience. They confirm contacts with Spain for a 6x6, information has been given about the model offered, and they are waiting for Spain to make a move," said defense analyst RodrigoRRC72 on social media platform X on Tuesday.
The PARS III 6x6 represents a significant advancement in tactical wheeled armored vehicle technology, designed to meet contemporary operational requirements of modern armed forces.
With a combat weight of 25,000 kilograms, the vehicle accommodates up to nine personnel while maintaining compact dimensions for strategic mobility.
The vehicle measures under 7 meters in length, 2.9 meters in width, and 2.4 meters in hull height, enabling air transportation via A400, C-17, and C-5 aircraft. Its high-performance diesel engine paired with a fully automatic 7-speed transmission delivers a maximum road speed of 100 kilometers per hour and an operational range exceeding 800 kilometers.
The PARS III 6x6 demonstrates exceptional off-road capabilities with 60% gradeability, 30% side slope capability, and the ability to overcome 0.7-meter vertical obstacles and 1.75-meter-wide trenches. Its independent hydropneumatic suspension with height adjustability and double wishbone design ensures superior mobility across challenging terrains.
All six wheels are driven, with axles one and three steerable for enhanced maneuverability, achieving a turning radius of less than 7 meters.
The vehicle can optionally be configured for amphibious operations.
Protection capabilities include classified-level ballistic and mine protection compliant with STANAG 4569 standards. The vehicle features eight smoke grenade launchers, an automatic fire suppression system, and integrated CBRN protection and climate control systems.
The PARS III 6x6 supports various manned and remote-controlled turret systems, including missile platforms, allowing for modular mission configurations.
Mission equipment includes a 360-degree situational awareness system, driver vision enhancements, a battlefield management system, integrated navigation, VHF/UHF communications, and a crew intercom.
The electrical infrastructure complies with MIL-STD-1275 and MIL-STD-461 standards, with an optional auxiliary power unit supporting sustained operations. The vehicle's design prioritizes high survivability, flexibility, and mobility for diverse modern combat scenarios.
