Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmud Meshedani in Ankara, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry's social media account on Wednesday.
Meshedani was also received by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday and also held discussions with Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus.
The closed-door reception at the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) headquarters included Parliament Speaker Kurtulmus among the participants.
National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief Ibrahim Kalin also conducted contacts in northern Iraq, visiting Erbil for high-level meetings.
Kalin met with Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) leader Masoud Barzani, Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani, KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, KRG Interior Minister Reber Ahmed, and KRG Security Council officials.
Bilateral discussions addressed the latest situation in the region following the war between Iran and Israel, focusing on steps to ensure regional peace and stability.
The "Terror-Free Türkiye" process was among the most important topics on the agenda during the discussions. Talks focused on steps to be taken in the coming period to eliminate terrorism from the entire region and remove terror from the regional agenda.
The meetings addressed in detail the security of Turkmens and their role in political processes. Türkiye conveyed its continued support for Iraqi Turkmens during the discussions.
