Turkish F-16 crashes during training flight in Yalova

A Turkish F-16 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in northwestern Türkiye’s Yalova province after a malfunction, officials said Wednesday.

The pilot ejected and survived the crash.

“One of our Air Force’s F-16 aircraft crashed in Yalova during a training flight; the pilot ejected and survived,” the Turkish Defense Ministry said.

“The cause of the crash will be determined following a detailed investigation,” it added.

Pilot survives after ejecting

The aircraft was involved in an accident during a training flight at Yalova Airfield Command.

According to information obtained, the military aircraft crashed near the 18th Main Jet Base in Taskopru town of Yalova’s Ciftlikkoy district.

Initial reports said the pilot survived by parachuting from the aircraft, while medical and fire teams were dispatched to the area.

The pilot was taken to Yalova Training and Research Hospital for treatment.

The aircraft was stated to belong to the Ceylan Squadron of the Eskisehir 1st Main Jet Base.
