Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to conduct a series of diplomatic meetings in Russia, including a scheduled audience with President Vladimir Putin on Monday, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.
During his visit to the Russian Federation, Fidan is expected to be received by Putin on May 26. The Turkish foreign minister will also hold discussions with Vladimir Medinsky, an adviser to the Russian president, and Sergey Naryshkin, director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service.
In addition to government meetings, Fidan will participate in a session with members of the Russian-Turkish Business Council's board of directors.
The diplomatic engagement will continue with talks between Fidan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, scheduled for the following day.
Türkiye has maintained diplomatic and economic ties with Russia despite international sanctions imposed following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The country has positioned itself as a mediator in various regional conflicts while preserving its NATO membership and relationships with Western partners.
