Celal Celik, lawyer for the main opposition Republican People’s Party's (CHP) former chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu, stated that his client has no involvement in lawsuits seeking to annul the party’s 38th Ordinary Congress and 21st Extraordinary Congress.
Celik emphasized that Kilicdaroglu chose to remain silent in order not to harm the CHP.
Speaking in front of Kilicdaroglu’s office in Ankara’s Mustafa Kemal neighborhood, Celik said that Kilicdaroglu deliberately avoided public statements.
According to Celal Celik, the former CHP chairman chose to remain silent to avoid harming the party. He added that Kilicdaroglu has always had thoughts and writings he wished to share, and still does, and will continue to in the future.
Celik underlined that the lawsuits concerning the annulment of the congresses were not initiated by Kilicdaroglu and that he had no role or knowledge in the ongoing legal processes.
He explained that the so-called “absolute nullity” case is not on Kilicdaroglu’s agenda. Celik argued that Kilicdaroglu consistently tried to distance himself from any approach that could harm the party.
He also criticized what he described as immoral lies and slanders spread by certain journalists and television commentators, saying that they misled the public by suggesting otherwise.
Celik concluded by stressing that Kilicdaroglu will not make any statements on the lawsuits related to either the extraordinary or the ordinary party congress.
He insisted that these legal processes have no connection with Kilicdaroglu, adding that his client remains determined not to engage in any approach that could harm the CHP.
