Hungary will receive more than 400 Turkish-made Ejder Yalcin armored vehicles, known locally as Gidran, marking a significant expansion from the original 2020 contract that covered only 40 vehicles.
The expanded defense procurement program will continue through 2031 and includes plans for joint production and export capabilities.
According to information given in the Turkish defense media outlet's report, over 100 vehicles have already been delivered to Hungary since the initial contract signing in 2020. The current delivery schedule extends through 2031 and will include both Ejder Yalcin (Gidran) and NMS armored vehicles.
The expanded contract includes provisions for establishing production capabilities in Hungary, with armored vehicles manufactured at Nurol Makina Hungary facilities designated for export to different markets.
This arrangement will enable Hungary to serve as a production and distribution hub for third-country sales.
The supply package will feature subsystems developed by Turkish defense industry companies, building on previous agreements for advanced military technologies.
Previous contracts have established the integration of Turkish-developed systems into the Gidran armored vehicles. Aselsan-developed SARP remote-controlled weapon systems and SEDA gunshot detection systems have been contracted for delivery with the Gidran armored vehicles, enhancing their operational capabilities.
The Ejder Yalcin was developed to meet the operational needs of military units and security forces across all types of regions and terrain conditions, including urban and rural areas.
The vehicle combines high protection levels with superior mobility capabilities, establishing itself as a proven platform in operational environments.
Turkish security forces currently operate Ejder Yalcin vehicles in various configurations tailored for different mission requirements. The vehicle leads its class in protection level, mobility, and payload capacity.
The Ejder Yalcin platform offers diverse configurations to meet specific operational requirements. Available variants include explosive ordnance disposal vehicle, air defense vehicle, command-control vehicle, combat vehicle, CBRN reconnaissance vehicle, personnel carrier, mine/improvised explosive device detection-disposal vehicle, armored ambulance, and border surveillance and security vehicle.
Nurol Makina continues intensive development work on different vehicle configurations in accordance with contracts signed with international users.
The current contract structure calls for the delivery of over 400 armored vehicles to Hungarian security forces, with over 105 vehicles delivered to date. The process, continuing through 2031, will include both Ejder Yalcin (Gidran) and NMS armored vehicles.
A key aspect of the agreement involves future joint production at Nurol Makina Hungary facilities, where armored vehicles manufactured in Hungary will become export items for sale to third countries. This arrangement represents a strategic partnership approach that benefits both Turkish defense capabilities and Hungarian industrial development.
