An investigation has been launched into Gokalp Icer, chairman of the cryptocurrency exchange ICRYPEX, who has been taken into custody on charges of supplying narcotics and attempted intentional homicide.
According to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Icer is being investigated for “supplying narcotics” and “attempted murder with probable intent.” The case involves a victim identified as G.C., who was hospitalized in intensive care on July 14, 2025, after allegedly consuming drugs provided by Icer. The victim remains in critical condition.
Turkish media reported that Icer was detained as part of the investigation. Icer serves as chairman of the ICRYPEX Board of Directors.
ICRYPEX has also been linked to prominent Turkish journalist Fatih Altayli, with reports claiming the company sponsored Altayli’s YouTube broadcasts. Altayli was arrested in late June on unrelated charges.
