Intelligence Chief Kalin to visit political parties for 'Terror-Free Türkiye' initiative

National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief Ibrahim Kalin is expected to visit political parties with parliamentary groups regarding the "Terror-Free Türkiye" initiative process, according to sources familiar with the matter speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) on Sunday.

The visits come as the process for establishing a planned commission in the Turkish Parliament related to "Terror-Free Türkiye" efforts nears completion.

According to information obtained by AA correspondent, MIT Chief Kalin is expected to visit political parties with groups in parliament before the commission is established.

The visits, expected to begin Monday, will include meetings with group leaders and deputy group leaders from six political parties: Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Republican People’s Party (CHP), People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Good Party (IYI Party), and New Welfare Party.

Information briefings on anti-terror process

During the meetings, Kalin will provide information about the process involving "Terror-Free Türkiye" efforts, sources indicated.

The initiative represents part of ongoing efforts to address terrorism-related issues through parliamentary coordination and involves the establishment of a dedicated commission within the Turkish Parliament's framework. The planned commission is expected to facilitate coordination among political parties on matters related to counter-terrorism efforts and the broader "Terror-Free Türkiye" objectives.
