Iraq ranked first among Türkiye’s seven neighboring countries in export volume from December 2023 to June 2024, according to data from the Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Exporters' Assembly. Exports to Iraq reached approximately $5 billion during this period.

Bulgaria followed in second place with $2.2 billion, while Greece ranked third with $1.8 billion, and Georgia came fourth with $1.7 billion.

According to data, Türkiye's exports in the first half of the year rose by 4.1% compared to the same period last year, reaching $131.44 billion.

Exports to neighboring countries from Türkiye—Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Greece—totaled $13.29 billion in the first half of the year, according to official data.

The highest year-on-year increase in exports was recorded to Syria, with a 45% surge, followed by Greece at 13.5% and Azerbaijan at 8.8%.

The breakdown of Türkiye’s exports to its neighboring countries by product category in the first half of the year also drew attention.

Between January and June of this year, the highest export value was recorded for grains, pulses, oilseeds, and related products, totaling $921.96 million, all of which were shipped to Iraq.

This category was followed by furniture, paper, and forest products—also exported to Iraq—amounting to $551.83 million.

During the same period, jewelry exports to Syria reached $3.86 million.

It is worth noting that the data covers countries sharing direct land borders with Türkiye, excluding Armenia due to the absence of formal overland trade relations.
